Where did the time go??
Grayson continues to grow into a big, strong boy.
At a doctor visit last week, he weighed 20lbs, 3oz. He is in size 3 diapers, and wears 6 month to 9 month clothes (depending on the brand). He eats 6oz bottles 5 times a day, as well as 2 servings of oatmeal, 1 veggie, and 1 fruit.
He's learning to drink water from a sippy cup, and likes to eat his NumNums, when Mommy or Daddy gives one to him. He is at the point where EVERYTHING goes in his mouth (no matter if it is supposed to or not), so we have to really watch what we keep within his reach.
He spends his days at daycare with his new friends, and he spends his evenings being silly with us. When he is at home, he plays with his toys or cuddles with Mommy and Daddy. We don't really let him watch too much TV, and he doesn't really seem to be that interested in it. He does, though, love to watch football. I think he will like NASCAR, too, because of all the movement. (And he better like NASCAR--he has a daddy, Uncle, Grandma, and cousin to watch all the races with!)
We have really enjoyed getting to watch the developmental steps he takes each day. He is rolling over all the time, from front to back and back to front. If he wants to get somewhere, he usually gets there by rolling. He can do baby push-ups and get his legs up under him when he's lying on his tummy, but he only seems to do it when he is in his crib, trying to fall asleep. In fact, he is all over his crib when he is supposed to be sleeping. :)
It has been fun to watch him look for things. Just tonight, he threw his pacifier, then looked for it, grabbed it, and stuck it in his mouth. I know that seems like such a little thing, but it's just so amazing for us because it's something new he has learned to do! :) His favorite toys continue to be his exersaucer, bouncy, Leo the Lion, his laptop, his blocks, and, of course, his lovie. He doesn't go anywhere without that lovie.
He is able to sit up on his own, and it's obvious that he is proud of being able to do so. He loves to sit on the floor and play with his blocks. He also likes to sit and play with Bailey. He will grab at her, pet her, and give her kisses (and Bailey will try to lick all over his face). He laughs and laughs while he watches the dogs.
He has learned to scream and squeal, and he does it all the time. We think he picked this up from daycare. He will squeal really loud, and then laugh and laugh when we acknowledge him. He has also learned to fake cough. And, somewhere along the line, he has learned to make a fake crying sound to get our attention. (I know he's faking because he always smiles when he does it. HA!) He loves to watch Daddy beat-box, and works very hard to imitate the sounds that he hears. As I mentioned in a previous post, he often says "HEY!" to us, and he has also started saying, "DaDa!"
We are pretty sure that Grayson is going to be a spitting image of his Daddy....in every way. There are so many of David's mannerisms that I see Grayson starting to do. :) And, he smiles a sheepish grin (just like his Daddy) when he knows that he is doing something that he probably shouldn't be doing.
He still sleeps through the night, and typically sleeps 11-12 hours each night. He has adjusted very well to having to go to bed and wake up a little earlier now that he has started daycare, and we are very relieved about that. He is definitely a morning person, as he always smiles and laughs when we go in the room to get him. He doesn't fall asleep as easily as we would like....but, he's not fighting it as much as we used to.
By the way, we call this Grayson's "Bledsoe Pooh" because he has a big head,
just like Grayson and his Daddy. :)
We have noticed this month, more than any time since we have had Grayson, the number of people that comment on what a happy baby Grayson is. Sometimes people come up to us and say, "Oh, he's so happy!" or, "He seems like such a happy baby!" while other times we can overhear them. Grayson loves the attention, of course. He will smile and turn his head away, trying to act shy.
David and I feel like, in some ways, the past 6 months have flown by. Becoming parents has definitely been an adjustment for the both of us, but it is something that we wouldn't change for the world. We love love love love love having Grayson in our lives. We are very much looking forward to the next 6 months, and watching Grayson grow into a little boy. We know that God has many new adventures in store for our little family!
