Overwhelmed

I can't think of any other words that can more adequately describe how I have felt this week. I was so excited in my last post about the relaxing weekend we were going to have...unfortunately, none of it happened.

I ended up getting a migraine Friday afternoon, so I left work early to head home to take my pain meds. Usually, I fall right to sleep and wake up feeling fine. This was not the case. I woke up around 7pm, and my headache was worse than I have ever felt. Absolutely horrible. And then, I started getting sick. I got sick from 7pm until almost 3am before I called David home from work to take me to the ER. My mom drove down in the middle of the night to stay with Grayson. I was admitted to the hospital, given fluids and meds, told I was extremely dehydrated, and tried to rest. Then, the fever came, and Finnley's heartrate went up. It stayed between 190-200 for several hours. Once my temperature dropped, so did her heartrate, and we were able to go home. I probably should have stayed.

I was in bed (literally) from Saturday night until Tuesday night. I finally felt better on Wednesday morning, and I headed back to work. I had already missed so many hours from not working, I just HAD to get some hours in. So, I worked...until I got the phone call from Grayson's school. He was running a fever and had a stomach bug. I headed to pick him up. Thankfully, David has been able to take off work to stay home with him. Oh, I'm so grateful! I've been able to get some hours in, which means the month wasn't a total wash. Grayson is still pretty puny, but seems to be feeling better each day. Hopefully he will be back to himself with some more rest over the weekend.

On top of work and being sick, we have an Open House scheduled house on Sunday afternoon. We don't really have high hopes of anything coming from it, but maybe we will be pleasantly surprised. David has been doing some stuff around the house each day, but we still have a ways to go to get it ready for Sunday. I wish I had more energy at night so that I could get more stuff done. Instead, I usually fall asleep on the couch by 730!

There has been a bright spot this week: our house has started being framed! It is actually looking like a house! We can tell what rooms are what, and have been able to get a good feel for how it will be when it's done. We love it! :)

This weekend will hopefully be filled with football, resting, cleaning, more resting, relaxing, and spending time together. Hopefully. Thanks for checking in on us! We love you all!

A new post...finally!

So, I finally have a few minutes to sit down and write a post about everything that has been going on lately.  I am on my work computer, so I don't have any pictures right now, but I will try to upload some soon, so you can see what we have been up to!

Grayson had his surgery last Friday.  He did okay, but it wasn't as easy as we had hoped it would be.  We had to be at the surgery center at 6:00am, which was SUPER EARLY for all of us.  Grayson couldn't have anything to eat or drink from midnight on, so he wasn't pleased that he couldn't have his breakfast.  In fact, he kept sitting down at the little table at the center, looking around for his food (since that's where he eats at school).  :)  We got all checked in, and then we waited, and waited, and waited, and waited some more.  FINALLY, around 8:30am or so, we were able to go back to meet with Dr. Klug, the nurses, the ansethesologists, and get Grayson all ready to go.  The whole surgery took about 20 minutes.  Dr. Klug came in to talk to us...he gave us the run-down of all the medications Grayson would need to take and what to expect once we got home.  Then, we were able to go see our little guy.  He was MISERABLE!  He was screaming and crying, and I could tell he was hurting so bad. :(  I snuggled with him, gave him some juice and his foo-foo, but he was just in too much pain.  The nurse gave him some medicine, which knocked him out, and a little while later we were headed home.  Grayson slept until about 1:00pm, then got up and ate a little lunch.  He napped on and off for the rest of the day, and went to bed early that night.  It took him a few days to completely get back to himself, but now he is doing great!  The doctor said that the adnoid area healing can cause some pretty horrible bad breath...he wasn 't kidding!  It has been awful!  But, we are so glad that our little guy is all better....and we are hoping we won't have anymore ear infections for a while!

David's mom came down this past weekend, too!  We had to meet with our builders on Friday afternoon for the pre-construction meeting, so Pam hung out with Grayson while we were gone.  She also hung out with him in the play room during the football party on Saturday.  Grayson loves his Gammie, that's for sure, and I am positive that the feeling is mutual.  Pam treated us to dinner on Friday night and lunch on Sunday...thanks, Pam!  It was all delicious!  :)

Speaking of our house, we have broken ground!!!  YAY!  The foundation is supposed to be poured today, and framing will hopefully start on Monday.  It has been so crazy to go out to the lot each afternoon and see our house being built! It has made everything seem sooooo real.  (I know that sounds crazy, but, so far, we have only seen our home on paper.  It's prety awesome to see it all laid out in front of us!)  We still have to decide on the tile and the lighting, but, other than that, we are just waiting to watch the builders do their thing!

Work has been more than busy lately, and, honestly, more than frustrating.  I try really really hard not to bring it all home with me each night, but it has been hard, especially with the fact that I have gotten at least one crisis call each night...sometimes multiple ones!  UGH!  Thankfully, I do enjoy what I do...it's just hard to look past the people that are in charge of the companies I work with sometimes.

We have a pretty relaxing weekend planned, thank goodness.  Grayson and I have some errands to run in the morning, and then we may head out to browse a huge neighborhood garage sale that is going on since the weather will be so nice.  We have talked about going to the harvest festival at the Zoo tomorrow afternoon, but I am not sure if that will happen or not.  Otherwise, we just plan on taking it easy and spending some time together!  I love weekends like this...it feels like we are always on the go!

Wednesday Randoms

Some random thoughts and ramblings:

I am 23 weeks pregnant today! I haven't gotten sick in about a week (thank goodness!), and Finnley is definitely getting bigger each day! I'm not sure if I look any bigger, but I have had more people mention things about my bump. Also, I have been feeling lots of stretching and aches/pains lately, especially my c-section scar. Some days it feels like its going to rip completely open! Ouch! I go in for my glucose test on October 3. Please pray I pass!

We have our pre-construction meeting with the builders on Friday afternoon. They will be staking out the floor plan of our house this week, so we will be able to get an idea of how it will look on our land. I am so excited to get this process started! We have already selected all of the interior items: cabinets, counter tops, paint, floor, etc. We have also picked out the brick and exterior paint. We still need to pick out the tile and the lighting, but, other than that, we are just waiting on the ground breaking! :)

Grayson is having tubes put in his ears and his adnoids taken out on Friday morning. He has had 4 ear infections in 5 months, so the doctor feels like this will really make a difference. We are hoping so! Surgery should only last about 20 minutes, and then he will be in recovery for about an hour. The doctor said he should be back to himself by the afternoon!

We have started making dinner at home every night and eating dinner at the table as a family. Grayson seems to love it, and so do Mommy and Daddy. Before now, we fed Grayson his dinner and then David and I ate later in the evening. But, I love that we all get to sit at the dinner table and talk about our day. So fun!

Nothing else is really going on. We are working like crazy, loving each other like mad, and having lots of fun!

Grayson has grown sooooo much, and I can't believe he is 13 months old now! He has started really communicating with us both with words and signs. He can sign: all done, stop, and more; and he functionally says; uh oh, dada, mama, yeah, booboo, and byebye. He doesn't walk anymore because he runs everywhere...and he LOVES to wave at everyone. He waves all the time! We have joked that we are going to get him a job at Wal-mart as a greeter. :) The director of the school is about to move Grayson up to the 2-year old class since he's so big. I'm anxious to see how the bigger kids change his behavior. Ha! Grayson can also follow lots of directions: close the ___, give this to ____, go sit in your Tennessee chair, throw this away, wipe the table, give me your foo-foo, sit down, stand up, come here, and let's go to the car. He can point to his nose when you ask where it is, and he loves to read his favorite book because he says "uh-oh" at just the right time! He wants to do EVERYTHING independently and gets upset if we do something for him.

We surprised my dad this past weekend by making the trip to Humboldt to have dinner!  Jason, Becky, Ally, and Jarrett came, too, and it was sooooooooooo much fun to hang out!  I think Dad was happy to see all of us.  We hope it was a great birthday celebration, PapPap!!
